There are many beauty therapists leaving college and looking for a job at this time of the year and some employers are inundated with applications from candidates who may not be suitable or fit their specifications. If you are lucky and your CV impressed your prospective new employer and they invite you for an interview you need to make sure you stand out from the crowd and make a very good first impression when you meet them.
To make sure you have the best chance of success at an interview consider the following points:
Research the company you are hoping to work for, find out as much as you can about the services and treatments they offer.
Look professional and if you are asked to do a trade test wear your best uniform, make sure your hair is neat, tidy and away from your face, your nails are short and well manicured and your makeup is appropriate for the job.
Make sure you arrive in good time and greet your interviewer with a firm handshake and a confident approach. Speak clearly, answer questions with authority and enthusiasm and have several questions of your own prepared that you would like to ask them.
Sell your strengths and explain how your skills and attributes will benefit them.
Use positive body language, sit up straight, maintain eye contact and smile to leave a good impression.
After the interview thank them for their time and say that you look forward to hearing from them then follow up with an e mail or letter.
Hopefully you will impress the interviewer and secure the position you have applied for.
